According to the financial regulator of Switzerland, the number of requests for information that are related to the blockchain, crypto or ICO, significantly increased in 2017.
In its report for 2017 published on Tuesday, the Office for Supervision of Financial Market Operations of Switzerland notes that of the 453 requests into the organization relating to the topic of financial technologies, 60% of appeals concerned brokers, crypto, ICO and smart contracts.
This indicator, according to officials, showed a triple increase in 2017. So, in 2016 requests related to the blockchain accounted for only 22% of the total number of applications to the department.
Experts attribute this dynamics to the fact that since last year the Swiss regulator addressed this topic quite often and in fact made it central in its supervisory activities.
